Little Shop Of Horrors (2022)
Last year, in my first year of college, I helped out with the stage design and prop making for my college's production of little shop of horrors. I helped by making 2 of the Audrey 2 puppets, partially helping with the 3rd and painting the set.
Smallest Audrey 2-
For the smallest Audrey I built it in 2 parts, the plant pot and the head itself. The plant pot has a hole in the back so it could easily slip onto the puppeteer's arm and the head is 2 pieces that go over the 4 fingers and thumb, which are both attached to a sock which the puppeteer places there arm in which will look like the neck of Audrey 2 and giving them more freedom to move the Audrey around.
Second Largest Audrey 2-
As Audrey grows in the play so did the puppets, with this second puppet I did get help with the head. The puppet was too big and heavy to be a sock puppet so therefore I had to think of a new mechanism. I came up with the idea of a stick in top half of Audrey 2's head which meant that the puppeteer could hold the bottom half of Audrey and move the top up and down with the stick making the Audrey 2's mouth open and close. I also had to use more light weight materials so it wouldn't be to heavy to hold so the neck is a hollow tube which reduced Audrey 2's weight.
Biggest Audrey 2-
The biggest Audrey 2 puppet was considerably larger as it is Audrey 2's final growing stage in the play. As she was much bigger, I did not make the initial wooded mechanism but helped out where I could, such as the painting, leaf making, plant pot making and helped 'upholster' her to .
